I think that this is great work, but Mandelbaum's paper showed that they could reduced non-contact ACL injuries in elite high school aged girls with their PEP program. (nothing looks all that serious about PEP) When they did the same work in women's college soccer players there was no similar effect.

Does the collegen defect really make that big a difference? (27%?)

Both of my daughters tore their ACL during senior year of high school. One playing basketball, the other soccer. We know another family where all three daughters did same, all soccer.

Thanks for your comment. For now, my best advice I could give is to have all young athletes train ot reduce the risk of ACL injury. Strength, balance, flexibilty are the keys. My best to your kids and wish them a speedy and full recovery

3 kids in my family: 2 girls, 1 boy all 3 have torn their ACL in the past 16 months-this would be great for other families- if research could identify at risk individuals and be able to prevent what happened to our family
